Freemasonry welcomes members from all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Before you can join the Scottish Rite, you must be a Master Mason in a Lodge which is a part of a Grand Lodge recognized by the Conference of Grand Masters in North America.

Once a Mason has been elected to receive the High Degrees of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, he becomes a Candidate in a "Class" of Initiates who must attend a Reunion in order to receive their Degrees.
