Reunions

Once a Mason has been elected to receive the High Degrees of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, he becomes a Candidate in part of a Class of Initiates who must attend a Reunion in order to receive their Degrees.

Unlike the Degrees in a Craft Lodge, the Degrees of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry are elaborate, costumed theatrical productions, many of which can have fairly large casts. Degrees and their associated Masonic lessons are conferred - acted out - before the Candidates, with one serving as proxy for all participating in the Reunion. Not all 29 Degrees of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry are conferred in any one Reunion. Those which are omitted are communicated to Candidates in the form of a short talk.

The Reunion in the Valley of Norfolk is done annually in June at the Khedive Shrine Center in Chesapeake, VA.
